Thrissur: The Congress party will not go for the general election scheduled to be held in 2019 unless the union government orders a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the alleged corruption in the Rafale Aircraft deal between the Narendra Modi Government and French Government in the next Parliament session,  Working Committee Member of the party P.C. Chacko has said.

He was speaking here on Monday as a part of the state-wide protest held by the Congress demanding a JPC probe into the Rafale aircraft deal and the resignation of Prime Minister Nare-ndra Modi for allegedly favouring Mukesh Amba-ni’s firm for the aircraft manufacturing contract with the French firm.

“Modi is a man who always cares for the close aides and has gone out of the way to help Mukesh Ambani in the Rafale deal. A company created in papers was handed over contract of aircraft manufacturing worth '1.3 lakh crore and the prime minister played middleman’s role in the deal,” Chacko alleged.    A similar protest was also conducted in Palakkad town in which Congress leader M.M. Hassan took part.

With the clear instruction from the AICC president Rahul Gandhi for signing attendance register for Congress MLAs, DCC and AICC functionaries there was a large turnout of Congress workers and functionaries at the protests.
