FSSAI checks for adulteration before Deepavali

The manufacturing date, batch number, manufacturer's address and FSSAI license number and expiry date must be mentioned on the packets.

Chennai: With Deepavali around the corner, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) inspected numerous sweet stalls to check for adulteration and hygiene and handed out an advisory to the shops. The manufacturing date, batch number, manufacturer’s address and FSSAI license number and expiry date must be mentioned on the packets. The details of oil and ghee used must be stuck on a display boards at the sweet stall, read the advisory. Further, it said that the owners must ensure the festival gift packs do not include milk sweets, as their shelf life is low.
