Hyderabad: The Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department has sanctioned a request to establish 18 new fire stations in the state.

This is in addition to the 97 fire stations and 15 fire outposts spread across 10 divisions over 31 districts of the state.

Each of these stations will have 17 men deployed, said the regional fire officer, central region, V. Papaiah.

“The Telangana state government has accepted the proposal. The district administration’s help will be sought to identify the sites for establishment,” he said.

The two areas with a demand for a fire station in the city, Secunderabad Cantonment and Yakutpura in the old city, are among the places where the new ones are being setting up, keeping in mind the number of distress calls from these places.

Each fire station would be having 17 staff members and the process for fresh recruitment for the new stations is also expected to be taken up soon.
