Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman was found dead at her home on Friday with stab wounds.

The deceased Mendim Saritha was married to Mendim Santosh, and the couple and their children lived in Jiyaguda's Sanjay Nagar slum.

The children were moved to Saritha’s sister's home in the city during the monsoon break because of frequent fights between the couple, the police stated. The Kulsumpura police suspect Saritha’s husband, who is absconding, could be behind the murder.

Saritha's body was discovered on Friday morning with stab wounds close to her intimate areas. Initial investigation indicated that she may have been strangled. “Santhosh, who is reportedly mentally ill, is suspected of killing her early on Friday morning before fleeing,” police said. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem and a case was booked.
