Andhra Pradesh panchayat transfers dead secretary
She was among the 276 panchayat secretaries whose transfers were ordered.
TIRUPATI: In an embarrassing incident, the Chittoor district administration has issued transfer orders to panchayat secretary P. Lakshmi, who had died three months ago.
Lakshmi, was working at the Marripadu panchayat in Gurramkonda mandal of Piler constituency and had died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
She was among the 276 panchayat secretaries whose transfers were ordered. She was told to report to the Atturu panchayat in Renigunta mandal.
Sources said Lakshmi met with an accident on April 11 at B. Kothakota police station limits while going to her native place, and died in a hospital.
A case was registered at the local police station. Her funeral was attended by several senior panchayat officials, despite which her family received the transfer orders.
Reacting to this, Chittoor collector Dr Narayana Bharat Gupta said he would take up corrective measures immediately and the list of transfers would be suitable revised.
