Chennai: Tamil Nadu Child Rights Observatory (TNCRO), Government Help line 104 received 1,500 calls on Tuesday to provide for emotional support and guidance before the exam results declaration. As the stress level spikes among parents and students awaiting board exam results concerning career alternatives, marks and failure in exams before and after the result declaration.
“While students had queries related to scoring low marks fearing comparison with fellow classmates or failure, parents discussed issues related to available career options and to help children manage stress. Anxiety, depression, isolation, stress management and distress are the major problems that students as well as parents face before and after result declaration,” said Prabhu Das, senior official with the 104 helpline.
Students, parents and teachers can contact 104 or 14417 help line round the clock on Wednesday, in case of distress or guidance before or after result declaration, he said.

Officials with 108 help line suggested that the parents should avoid comparison with other students and support children emotionally without making them unhappy due to their own high expectations of marks.
