Hyderabad: The GHMC will be constructing over 50 modern bus bays with Rs 3 crore, as part of the 100-day action plan. Of these, 22 have been completed. The modern bus bays have a shelter with seating and electronic passenger information systems.

Bus stops are being clustered together into transport hubs to allow interchange between routes. The modern bus bays are taken up on single-lane roads. Instead of barricading, lane marking has been provided.

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said that motorists were facing difficulties on the city roads due to traffic jams particularly at bus stops as buses and autorickshaws stopped in the middle of the roads to pick up passengers. “To avoid this problem, GHMC decided to build special bus bays and arrangements on footpaths for the convenience of passengers waiting for buses,” he said.
