Telangana: 71 residential schools for minorities soon

Minister said that the government would sanction Rs 2,000 crore in a phased-manner for these schools.

Hyderabad: Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy on Friday said that the government has sanctioned as many as 71 English medium residential schools for minorities.

During his tour of several parts of Ranga Reddy district in connection with Mission Kakatiya works, the minister said that the government would sanction Rs 2,000 crore in a phased-manner for these schools.

“In the first phase, the government will sanction Rs 350 crore. Similarly, the government will sanction schools for ST community soon. I have already spoken to Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari regarding this,” Mr Reddy said.

These schools, to be functional from June 12, will have 75 per cent quota for minorities and remaining for poor students from other communities.
