Hyderabad: Five days have passed but no legal action has been taken against Pbel city developers for the criminal negligence that led to a six-year-old boy getting electrocuted inside a gated community.

Narsingi police, who are investigating the case, say they are still awaiting the post-mortem report from Chennai and a report from the electricity department.

A case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) has been registered against Incor Developers, the residential welfare association of Pbel City, and the firm in charge of maintaining amenities in the community.

“The police have taken away CCTV footage to learn who was responsible for the tragedy,” said Narsingi police sub-inspector K.M. Raghavendra. “The PMA report from Manvalanagar police station in Chennai will take another week while the electricity document is expected next week. As on Friday, going by the FIR, the police hold the builders, owners’ association and the facility agency responsible for the child’s death. There is no change in our ground. After the report is analysed further, the relevant section under IPC will be imposed on the prime criminal.”

Monish’s parents have not returned from Chennai yet. His mother Ms Kalpana’s cousin, Mr Subramanian, is following up the case in Hyderabad. “We need justice. The family want to see the culprits behind bars. We are still to come to terms with Monish’s death,” he said. So far, the family has not claimed compensation.

Residents continue to blame Incor developers for Monish’s death. “We have turned extra cautious with our children after the incident. We are scared of letting our kids play in the community, as there are 10 such lamp posts. We still don’t trust the agency,” said Ms Renuka Reddy.

The community is likely to hold a remembrance ceremony for Monish once his parents Diwakar and Kalpana return from their home town.
