Ariyalur: The entire village of Kargudi, a sleepy hamlet of Ariyalur district,  is plunged in sorrow following a CRPF jawan from that village being one among the 44 jawans killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

C. Sivachandran (33) of Kargudi village, starting his career as a PG school teacher after doing his M.A. B.Ed., had joined the CRPF in 2017.

The tragedy is too shocking for his wife Ms. Gandhimathi (27) a diploma holder in nursing, to whom he got married in 2014, is in the family way again, since the couple had a two-year-old son Sivamuniyan.

Local people assembled at the house of Sivachandran and consoled his grieving parents Chinnaiyan (60) and Mrs. Singharavalli (55).

The elderly father told visiting newsmen that his son Sivachandran was imbued with patriotic feelings from a young age, and very often he pronounced the word ‘Nam Naadu Baratha Naadu’. “He went to protect the nation, leaving us in tears now,” the deceased jawan’s father added.

Sivachandran had spoken to his wife on Thursday afternoon.

Chinnaiyan was inconsolable as, with tears in his eyes to the brim, he poured out his heart: “Ennathaan Arasu Salugaikal Koduthalum, Ini En Magan Uyir Varaathu (whatever concessions the government may give, my son’s life will not come back).” “But he sacrificed his life for the nation and we feel proud of having such a son,” the father added.
