90,000 jobs: Indian Railway announces mega recruitment drive

The Railways is operationalizing the Rail Display Network (RDN) at six stations, including Varanasi, Gorakhpur and others, as a pilot project.

Chennai: In what could be a world’s largest recruitment drive, the Indian Railways, world’s largest employer,  has announced filling of more than 90,000 posts and invited applications from interested candidates.In a press statement, the Indian Railways said that applications are invited for posts like track maintainer, points man, helper, gateman, porter (Group C level 1), assistant loco pilots, technicians (Group C level 2).

The computer-based test is scheduled tentatively in April – May 2018. Educational qualifications for various posts are 10th passed and Industrial Training Institute certificate (ITI) or diploma in engineering or a graduation in engineering. Candidates in the age group of 18-28 years can apply.

The Indian Railway issued a notification on February 3. The railways also said that last date for applying is March 5 for Group C level 2 and March 12 for Group C level 1. The computer-based aptitude test (CBT) will be held during April and May, the release said.
