Hyderabad: The National Student Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday filed a petition before the Telangana High Court seeking directions to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana to take action against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in terms of the provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act.

Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao, the president of NSUI, complained to the court that Chandrashekhar Rao has made defamatory speech, derogatory and provoking comments  against the leaders of the Congress at a public meeting.

Pointing out that the comments made by Chandrashekhar Rao on October 30 at Banswada were similar to threatening, the petitioner submitted to the court that these are clearly in violation to the provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act. The petition would come for hearing  in one or two days.
