Jagan to deposit Rs 536.77 crore into bank accounts of 3,57,844 women today

Vijayawada: For the fourth year in a row, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will deposit a sum of Rs 536.77 crore directly into the bank accounts of 3,57,844 women beneficiaries of Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari communities across the state on Saturday.

The CM would release the assistance with the click of a button at Nidadhavolu, East Godavari district.

Officials said the state government is extending a financial assistance of Rs 75,000 under the "YSR Kapu Nestham" in 5 years – at the rate of Rs 15,000 per year - to eligible women in the age group of 45-60 years from the Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari communities. The idea is to make them self-reliant.

Including the Rs 536.77 crore released today, the total assistance provided under the YSR Kapu Nestham" alone is Rs 2,029 crore, benefitting all eligible poor women belonging to the targeted communities. The financial assistance provided to each poor Kapu woman in these four years is Rs 60,000.

The previous TD government had spent only Rs 400 crore per annum on Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari communities through various schemes, a government release stated, adding,  “The Jagan government, in just 4 years, has released '39,247 crores (DBT+Non DBT) to 77,00,628 beneficiaries belonging to the Kapu communities.

The Jagan Government aimed at the welfare of the Kapu community. Four portfolios in the cabinet including that of deputy chief minister are allocated to the Kapu community, the release said.

“Going beyond the promise made in the YSRC manifesto, the Jagan government has extended a benefit of Rs 39,247 crores in just four years for the welfare of the Kapu communities.
