Hyderabad: Owing to the delay in the Anandbagh road underbridge (RuB) works, irked residents renamed it ‘KTR/Commissioner RuB, Malkajgiri’ in an effort to draw the attention of the officials.

Residents took out a rally in the area demanding a firm date for its completion from the government. Residents alleged that the RuB has been left unfinished for the past six years.

The rally commenced around 9 am on Sunday. About 300 residents including senior citizens, colony representatives and residents participated in it.

The rally started at East Anandbagh RuB side, passed through Talabasti, Ashbuja Devi Temple, SBI, and culminated at Anandbagh X roads.

Malkajgiri resident Bakka Nagaraj said, “We have renamed the Anandbagh RuB as KTR/Commissioner RuB to urge the government to take action towards its rapid completion. All we’ve heard so far is excuses, no concrete work is being carried out.”

Another resident on condition of anonymity said, “We have been struggling for years now as the road was dug up for the project and then left untouched. We demand the authorities complete it as soon as possible.”

Residents demanded a firm date for completion of the project and warned that otherwise, they will not allow any official to visit the site.

According to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials, the RuB construction is managed by the roads and buildings department, and its railway portion has been completed.

The pending work is held up due to the delay in land acquisition owing to the court cases.
