Labour India College no to new admissions
The college authorities have refuted the allegation.
Kottayam: The Labour India College at Marangattupally has refused to admit students to the first-year degree courses claiming that it lacked infrastructural facilities. The college authorities said that they had earlier sought the MG University’s permission to stop the courses this year, but the university denied the claim.
Mr M.R. Unni, university registrar, told DC; “The cancellation of the courses could be done only with the approval of the syndicate. They have not adhered to the procedures," he said.
The college authorities have refuted the allegation. “We have documents to prove our demand to cancel the courses,” Mr Binu Joseph, PRO, told DC.
However, the college had given temporary admissions to some students. “We gave admissions since Wednesday was the last day of the first trial allotment. Most are looking for higher options," said Mr Gregory John, associate principal of the college.
The self-financing degree college runs four courses-- BA English, BA economics, B.Sc psychology and B.Com-and is affiliated to the MG University.
