Mangaluru: The parliament election has turned a platform for many political workers to display their commitment to the party. Their enthusiasm is understandable because the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) election is round the corner and will probably happen after the monsoon.

The five year term of the MCC ended last month and elections are due. Aspirants have already started trying for the party ticket by wooing their leaders. The parliament election is considered a stepping stone for many as they can prove their integrity to the party and also display their hard work during the campaign.

A senior Congress leader said, “The logic of the aspirants is that if they participate enthusiastically in the campaign, they will be noticed by senior leaders and also the party candidate. The active participation in the LS polls will be like an added merit to their claim to the ticket,” he said.

Similar is the case in the BJP where MCC aspirants have started their groundwork.
