Bengaluru: A couple was arrested by the Rajagopalnagar police for murdering their friend, who allegedly sought sexual favours from the woman.

The accused, Mohan (29) and his wife Ramya (25), are residents of Lavakusha Nagar. They got married a few years ago and shifted to Bengaluru from Gopanahalli in Hassan.

The deceased, Madhu, and Mohan were childhood friends and belonged to the same locality in Hassan. They worked as drivers for a private company.

Madhu often visited Mohan's house and was also good friends with Ramya. For the last three months, he started visiting the couple's house when Mohan was not around. He used to sit for hours and talk with Ramya. But Ramya found Madhu's behaviour awkward.

Ramya told this to Mohan who initially ignored it as he knew Madhu since childhood. But of late, Madhu started demanding sexual favours from Ramya. He asked her to accompany him everywhere and cooperate with him. He threatened her that if she did not agree, he would lie to Mohan about her character. But she refused to give in.

Madhu then started harassing Ramya's sister Bindu and demanded sexual favours from her too. Ramya told Mohan about Madhu's intentions and how he was harassing her and Bindu. Mohan warned Madhu and but he continued to harass Ramya.

On Saturday, the couple invited Madhu to their house and confronted him. A fight broke out and in a fit of rage, Mohan and Ramya hit Madhu on his head with a rod repeatedly, killing him.

The neighbours who heard the fight alerted the control room. The police rushed to the spot and arrested the couple within an hour before they could flee the city.
