Mangaluru: Alleging that the primary survey for widening NH 169 was unscientific, people have demanded revision of the plan and have warned of a massive ‘Rasta Roko’ if officials fail to respond to their demand.

“The highway widening project is unscientific. Officials plan to have a 45 metre wide road from Kulashekhar-Kaikamba (in Mangaluru) to Moodabidri. But from Moodabidri to Karkala, the same highway is scheduled to be 30 metres wide. Why this difference? It is better if the government limits the road to 30 metres. This would save many houses adjacent to the highway,” Advocate Mariamma Thomas says.
