Madhya Pradesh government pays Rs 5 lakh for bull's maintenance, angers assembly
The cost was borne by a government agency.
Bhopal: A bull from Haryana on Thursday created a flutter in Chhattisgarh assembly.
Members cutting across party lines in the assembly appeared amazed to learn that the organizers of an agriculture trade fair, held in Raipur in Chhattisgarh in January last year, had to pay through their nose to maintain a bull, named Yuvraj, brought from Haryana for the occasion.
“Initially, I mistook Yuvraj (the bull) as cricketer Yuvraj when I learnt about its maintenance cost, which came to a staggering Rs 5 lakh”, Chhattisgarh agriculture minister Ravindra Choubey told the assembly.

The issue cropped during question hour in the house when some members from both treasury and Opposition benches drew the attention of the chair to the alleged irregularities in holding the fair by a government organisation.
JCC legislator Dharamjit Singh narrated how the domestic animal was being fed with costly nutritious food such as cashew and other fruits, leaving members in the House perplexed.
