Karnataka judiciary one of finest, says new Chief justice

Bengaluru: While extending his support to the legal fraternity, and calling for collective effort to fill gaps in extending true justice, the new Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, Dinesh Maheshwari, observed that Karnataka's judiciary was one of the finest in the country.

He was speaking at a function organised by Advocates' Association Bengaluru to welcome him as new chief justice. While expressing his gratitude to the legal fraternity, including the High Court judges, Justice Maheshwari said that being chief justice of Karnataka High Court gives a great sense of satisfaction for any chief justice. Recalling an incident involving one of Cricket's greatest ever - W G Grace, the Chief Justice said, "Once during a match when the umpire declared Grace out, and the cricketer responded saying that 'they' came to see him bat, not the umpire." Referring to it he explained that judges were like umpires, who declare the result by way of passing orders, but the real players are the advocates, with the court being the cricket field.

He assured the advocates that he will always be accessible and anyone could reach out to him for help.
