Mahbubnagar civic body chief Radha Amar defects to TRS

Hyderabad: Defections from the Congress to the TRS continue unabated, the latest in the series being Mahbubnagar Municipal chairperson Radha Amar, who joined the ruling party five councillors on Tuesday. Ministers T. Harish Rao and C. Laxma Reddy, MP A.P. Jitender Reddy and MLA Srinivas Goud welcomed them to the party fold.

“Leaders of Congress, TD and other parties have made a beeline to the TRS since they did not like their parties’ attempts to stall projects. If the Opposition continues with this stance, it will be wiped out soon,” Mr Rao said. He added, “Should farmers be deprived of much-needed water for irrigation and drinking? We are trying to provide water to all, but the Congress trying to stop it. ”

Mr Rao alleged that defeated leaders of Opposition were filing cases against the government. He said that Mahbubnagar was once known for backwardness and mass migration of people for livelihood, but not anymore. “Under TRS rule, Mahbubnagar is developing fast, projects are being completed to provide irrigation to 4.5 lakh acres, migration has stopped and reverse migration taking place,” he said.
