CPM appeals for unity post Sabari verdict
Responsibility of the government and all political parties to accept the Supreme Court ruling.
THIRUVANANTHPAURAM: CPM state secretariat appealed to all sections to unitedly accept the Supreme Court verdict. The party has asked its units to be on guard against attempt by anti social elements to create trouble.
CPM state committee member K Anandagopan said it is the responsibility of the government and all political parties to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court.
When the SC verdict along with menstruating women in Sabarimala temple came last year, all political parties welcomed it calling it a historic judgment which upheld right to equality. None said it was wrong and cannot be implemented. But the problems arose when these sections tried to use it for vested political interests in the state.
The CPM leader told media that the situation in the state had changed drastically since last year. The review petitions will be examined and settled legally by the court. With mandala makaravilakku season beginning from November 16, there should be no attempt to create trouble and problems for the devotees. Such problems will only arise if political forces deliberately try to rake up the issue for vested reasons.
Even in the past the problems had cropped up only when there was an attempt to politically cash in on the matter.
Ananthagopan said the CPM was never against believers or traditions. However, the party has always opposed social evils and superstition.
Police alert, to keep tab on social media
State police on Wednesday warned of strict against those who try to create communal polarisation and communal tension through their posts and messages on social media.
The advisory has been issued in the wake of Sabarimala verdict on Thursday.
Police sources said such people will be taken into custody with immediate effect, non bailable sections will be slapped against them and prosecution proceedings will also be launched. Various wings of the police have been asked to strictly enforce measures to check the misuse of social media.
All social media platforms, networks, accounts will be under the constant monitoring of Kerala police cyber cell, cyberdome and cyber police stations 24/7.
The modern IT tools and techniques will be used to nab people posting and sharing messages which could create communal hatred and clashes.
