Bengaluru: Girl falls off bus, crushed to death

Police said the accident happened when the bus reached Sondekuppa Road.

The bizarre incident took place when the boy started running towards his grandmother, slipped from the footpath and fell under the front left wheel of the moving bus, said Hayathnagar police.

Bengaluru: A 17-year-old girl student standing near the front door of a BMTC bus died after she slipped and fell off the bus and came under its wheels in Nelamangala traffic police station limits on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Shushmita, a second PU student of Basaveshwara Women's PU College.

According to police, the incident took place at 4:30 pm while Shushmita was going home from college. She boarded the bus at Ganesh Gudi bus stop and was heading towards her home in Hullegowdanahalli.

Police said the accident happened when the bus reached Sondekuppa Road. Shushmita fell and came under front wheel of the bus and died on the spot, the police added.

Nelamangala traffic police rushed to the spot, shifted the body to a hospital for post-mortem and arrested the bus driver, Ramesh.
