Flash rains have traffic crawl at Madhapur

Hyderabad: Madhapur was battered by flash rains, with 5.8 cm of rain falling in a span of two hours in the Hitech zone of the city on Friday. The downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning occurred during the working hours, reducing traffic to crawling speed. The most amount of rain was recorded in Quthbullapur 6.18 cm. Chandanagar recorded 5.8 cm and Quthbullapur, 4.48 cm.
Massive traffic jams were reported from Madhapur, Punjagutta, Nagarjuna circle, and Begumpet. The city has been subjected to this phenomenon of flash rains (heavy to very heavy in a short duration) in the last few days. During the last 24 hours, the south-west monsoon has been active over the state, and rain is likely to continue till October 20, according to the local weather bureau.
