TTD board can now have 29 members

The state government on Friday brought in a new ordinance to enhance the number of trust board members to 29.

TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the affairs of the sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala and close to 50 other temples across the country, will have a jumbo trust board this time.

The state government on Friday brought in a new ordinance to enhance the number of trust board members to 29, up from the present 19-member board.

The AP government also brought in other amendments to the AP Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1987, to ensure 50 per cent of the nominated members (excluding ex-officio members) belong to SC, ST and BC communities.

The amendments also ensured 50 per cent of reservation for women including the women members nominated under the 50 per cent quota from SCs, STs and BC.
