Highest per-day spike of 253 COVID-19 cases in Telangana, Hyderabad worst-affected

Hyderabad: Telangana state registered its highest single day spike in Covid-19 cases with as many as 253 fresh cases reported on Saturday even as the death toll rose by eight, the state’s health department said. Hyderabad continued to remain the worst-affected with 179 new cases.

The number of cases in the state now stands at 4,737 and the toll at 182.

As on Saturday, there were 2,203 active cases of Covid-19 while 2,352 people have been discharged so far.

Excluding Hyderabad, 18 other districts accounted for 74 of Saturday’s cases with the day’s second highest tally coming from Sangareddy district that recorded 24 cases.

While Medchal-Malkajgiri had 14 cases, Ranga Reddy had 11 with Mahbubnagar registering four cases. Warangal (Urban, and Rural) recorded two cases as did Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Mulugu, Sircilla, Mancherial, while Siddipet, Khammam, Medak, Nizamabad, Nagarkurnool, Kamareddy, and Jagitial recorded one case each.
