Warangal: Get ready to walk the Bhadrakali promenade
Similarly, other development projects taken up by KUDA under HRIDAY are also nearing completion.
Warangal: The much-awaited Bhadrakali promenade in Warangal is all set to be opened for the public by the end of this month.
The Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) which is taking up the development of the Bhadrakali foreshore bund under the Heritage Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) has completed the work of the prestigious project.
Speaking to reporters, KUDA chairman Marri Yadava Reddy said on Thursday that the promenade will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the date has been tentatively fixed on June 20.
KUDA is taking up the development of approximately 4 km periphery of Bhadrakali Lake. Of this, one kilometre stretch was proposed to be developed with funds received under HRIDAY.
“The project took more time than expected due to several interlinking works. However, now that it is ready, it will be recognised as one of the best promenades in South India” Mr Yadava Reddy said.
The `22 crore project envisages a variety of physical, visual and tactile experiences so that walking becomes a memorable recreation for an individual, family as well as a tourist.
Similarly, other development projects taken up by KUDA under HRIDAY are also nearing completion.
The Jain Vanam opposite the Padmakshi temple is also ready and will be a site to visit for tourists since it boasts of several evidences of Warangal being a thriving centre for Jainism during the 2nd century.
According to Mr Reddy, the facade lighting and other beautification works at Warangal fort are also completed. “Apart from developing the historic sites in Warangal, KUDA has taken up the development of several aspects of Warangal city.
Community hall, children’s park, walking tracks and lighting system in O city colony, a community hall at the historic Inavolu temple, the inner ring road in Warangal were among the works being carried out by KUDA.
“We acquired 30 acres of land around the Warangal fort and we intend to build cottages for tourists. We are also working towards creating a land bank of at least 500 acres in our jurisdiction to take up development works”, he said.
KUDA vice chairman and GWMC commissioner S. Ravi Kiran, KUDA PO Ajit Reddy and others were present.
