Srinagar: Army on Tuesday intercepted a group of terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) when they were trying to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, triggering an encounter in which four soldiers were injured.

The infiltrators were attempting to sneak in through the Macchil sector of Kupwara district of Kashmir when they were confronted by the army and the gunfight was still underway.

Alert army troops foiled an infiltration bid in Machhil sector this afternoon, an army official said here.

He said the militants have been engaged by the soldiers and exchange of firing was going on till reports last came in. Four soldiers were injured in the ongoing operation, the official said.
