Hyderabad SSC results worst in state

Jagtial district tops with 99.73 per cent,

The poor performance of schools in Hyderabad district Nampally and Golconda areas pulled down the percentage.

Hyderabad: Around 8,676 students have secured 10/10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), out of the 5.4 lakh students who appeared for the School Certificate Examination (Public) conducted by Telangana State this year. The results were declared on Monday.

In order to reduce unhealthy competition among schools and to reduce the marks pressure on students, the grading system was introduced in Telangana state in 2014 and was implemented from 2015. A total of 4,67,859 students have passed, out of 5,06,202 students who sat for the exam this year.

According to the school education department, Hyderabad district had the lowest pass percentage in the state at 83.09 per cent.

The poor performance of schools in Nampally and Golconda areas pulled down the percentage.

Jagtial district came out on top with 99.73 per cent.

The number of schools in which all the students who sat for the exam and passed, doubled this time to 4,374 schools. And the overall pass percentage went up to 92.43 per cent from last year’s 83.78 per cent.

Girls outshone boys by securing 93.8 per cent, whereas boys secured 92.43 per cent.

This year 5,46,728 students appeared for the SSC public examinations, in which 5,06,202 students were regular and rest were private candidates.

The number of schools with zero pass percentage reduced from 21 to 9 this year for the regular candidates.
