Hyderabad: An advocate of the city moved an appeal in the High Court against the GHMC’s refusal to divulge information under the RTI Act with regard to appointment of standing counsel and their term and also orders from the court in favour of GHMC and ex-parte orders granted against the corporation.

Advocate Aijazuddin Khaja moved an application before the public information officer of the GHMC seeking information as to how many suits have been filed in the courts in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Ranga Reddy districts against the corporation and in how many suits had ex-parte orders been given by the courts against the GHMC.

He also sought to know in how many suits had the GHMC remained ex-parte, notwithstanding serving of summons facilitating granting of ex-parte decrees in favour of plaintiffs, besides several other queries including assets of standing counsels before and after the appointment.

Mr Khaja submitted that he had applied to the PIO on March 16, 2016 and till date, neither was his application rejected nor was he provided the information.
