Hyderabad: Members of BRS Vidyarthi, the students wing of the ruling party, protested outside Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, demanding that Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan clear the Telangana Universities Common Recruitment Bill.

The Bill was passed by the state Assembly in September 2022 and sent to the Governor for approval.

As there has been no action from the Governor, there is no recruitment happening in any universities and as a result, many eligible candidates are losing out on job opportunities, the protestors said.

Despite a large police force, the protestors managed to reach the Raj Bhavan main gate, holding placards and raising slogans. Police detained 72 persons and let off in the evening on personal surety.
