Job fair at Meenchanda College turns a big hit

Over 11, 000 candidates participate; as many as 78 companies including many IT firms take part.

KOZHIKODE: The Niyukthi mega job fair conducted by the Regional Employment Department at Government Arts and Science College, Meenchanda, on Saturday was a  success with 80 percent of  over 11,000 candidates who attended the interview receiving job offers.  They were called for the final round of interview at various institutions in and outside the state.

The majority of  the 78  companies that took part in the fair were Kerala-based IT firms. Manufacturing companies mainly looked for candidates with ITI and diploma qualifications  while those with degrees were chosen for marketing jobs. 

The firms included  Aster Mims, GTech Education, Instakart,  Big Bazar, KVR Motors, Eram Motors and Parisons group of companies.

“We have ensured 100 percent  job placement and security for the selected candidates  and  our department  collected  the entire profile of each company,”  said district employment officer K.S. Aswin Kumar.  Around 100 employers had  approached us to take part in the  fair,  but we  selected only 78, he added.

The minimum salary offered was Rs 10,000 and the maximum ranged between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 based on the experience and the qualification of the candidates. Minister for Panchayat  Dr M.K. Muneer inaugurated the job fair and mayor V.K.C. Mammed Koya presided over the function.

According to Mr P. Sumesh, HR manager of HAR Car Company,  the job fairs provide an opportunity to the companies to find good employees  under a single roof. “We are able to see talented candidates for the jobs,”  he added.
