TNPSC regrets mention of EVR Periyar's caste in Group 2 exams

Chennai: While assuring that the action will be taken against those responsible for mentioning the caste name of EVR Periyar in Group 2 exams question paper, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) regretted the mistake on Monday.

In a release, K. Nandakumar, secretary, TNPSC, said, "The question paper is being prepared by senior professors and being finalised after verifying it at various levels. Despite that, the question paper has carried Periyar's name wrong. We regret the mistake and assure that such mistakes will not happen in future."

Earlier, DMK president M.K. Stalin has condemned mentioning the caste name of Periyar in competitive exams question paper pointing out that he played a key role in abolishing the caste in surnames in Tamil Nadu.
