Chennai: Youth dies after falling into pothole

Chennai: A 21-year-old youth died after he fell into a pothole near Selaiyur on Sunday night. The incident happened around 10. 30 pm when the deceased, identified as Bright. R. Durai (21) and his friend Jove (21) went to a shop on the two-wheeler.

According to police, Bright. R. Durai (21) hailing from Kanyakumari visited Chennai on Saturday to appear for Arrear exam in a private engineering college in Tambaram.

On Sunday night at around 10: 30 pm the duo had gone to a shop on Agarampur main road in Selaiyur when Bright lost control of the bike. They fell into a pothole on the roadside dug by Tambaram municipality.

Passersby alerted police and they were sent to Rajiv Gandhi government hospital for treatment, where Bright. R. Durai succumbed to head injury on Sunday night.

His body was taken to the Chormepet government hospital for post-mortem. Tambaram traffic investigation police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
