TTV Dhinakaran rattled', says OPS lieutenant
TTV would do well to stop his grand appointments of office-bearers from now.
Chennai: AIADMK senior JCD Prabhakar on Tuesday said the party general council resolutions have ‘rattled’ TTV Dhinakaran and led him to “speak incoherently” while unleashing vicious attack on Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
“First, he did not expect that the EPS and OPS factions would unite and when the merger happened, he was shocked. Now today’s successful general council session and the far-reaching resolutions passed there must have rattled him even more”, said Prabhakar, speaking to DC soon after the party GC session in which he had participated.
Asked why the names of the two AIADMK factions were mentioned at the GC meeting, instead of calling it an AIADMK general council session, Prabhakar explained that the Election Commission’s decision during the RK Nagar by-election to freeze the two-leaves symbol and allot the names, AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) and AIADMK (Amma), to the factions led by OPS and EPS respectively, held good even now.
“As the by-election was postponed, the two faction names continue to remain in operation. We will now tell the EC that the two factions have merged and the general council comprising members of both the factions met today to pass these resolutions. We will then seek EC’s order approving the merger and allotment of the party symbol and restoring the AIADMK name to the reunited party”, explained Prabhakar, who headed the party’s youth wing during the MGR tenure.
Exuding confidence that the TTV camp would now see “steady erosion” following the ‘solidarity’ demonstrated at the general council session, Prabhakar said, “At best, they could remain as a midget group of dissenters who would be soon consigned to the archives of fallen politicians. AIADMK cadres and the general public are solidly with us, happy with the merger”.
“TTV would do well to stop his grand appointments of office-bearers from now. If he continues to announce such appointments, claiming they are being made with the approval of Sasikala, the party may well consider expelling her from the primary membership of the AIADMK for flouting the general council resolution (removing her from the post of acting general secretary)”, Prabhakar said.
