Bengaluru: Turing down the demand by the opposition BJP for his resignation, Bengaluru Development Minister Mr K.J. George said that he would wait till the CBI submits its report to the Supreme Court on the suicide of DySP M.K. Ganapathi, in which he is allegedly involved.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr George said: “I don’t know if the BJP wants to know the truth behind Ganapathi’s death, or wants my resignation. When the Supreme Court has sought a report from CBI, we have to wait till it submits report to the court,” he said.

The court had noted that it was not expressing any opinion on the merits of the case and had asked the CBI to submit a report in three months. The court had also said that it would be open to the CBI to conduct an investigation afresh or  continue the investigation already conducted.

“This means, the CBI is free either to reopen the B-report filed by CID or register a fresh FIR. The CBI will submit the report to the Supreme Court and the truth will be known to the world,” Mr George said.

When asked about allegations of the CID destroying some of the digital evidence, Mr George said the issue was between CID and CBI. “I have no knowledge about that. When Ganapathi committed suicide, I was not even home minister,” he said.

Reacting to BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa’s claim that he would provide evidence against him, Mr George said that Mr Yeddyurappa had said the same when IAS officer D.K. Ravi had committed suicide. “However, they (BJP) did not produce anything. Even in the Ganapathi case, they are claiming the same, I am sure they will have nothing,” he added.
