Sri Lanka doing extremely well in imparting training

Some 35,000 youth get trained annually in 83 different trades in 18 trade sectors.

Hyderabad: Sri Lanka, a country which is on par in socio-economic terms with India, has a Vocational Training Authority that reaches the rural masses of the country, who are 72% of the total population. It trains them n skills that help them find employment both locally and internationally.

Some 35,000 youth get trained annually in 83 different trades in 18 trade sectors. After completing the training, they are helped to get local and foreign employment. Students are also eligible to apply for financial assistance and are provided loans if they want to be self employed.

Annual competency based assessments and finals assessments are conducted and National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) certificates are awarded.
