GHMC to up number of zones

Hyderabad: In order to facilitate citizens in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits and provide better governance, the state government has decided to increase number circles from 30 to 50 and zones from 6 to 10. 

The municipal administration and urban development minister, Mr K. Taraka Rama Rao directed the corporation officials that each circle should have only 20 wards and asked them to set up an independent Land Acquisition wing in order speed up all city infrastructure projects like the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).

The minister on Tuesday conducted a review meeting at the GHMC headquarters and instructed corporation officials to expedite nala desilting works, demolish dilapidated buildings and remove encroachments on nalas. He also asked officials to file cases against persons who interrupted the works. KTR expressed his disappoint with town planning officials and asked them to remove illegal constructions on nalas and lakes and demolish dilapidated structures to minimise loss of life during the on-going monsoon.
