Vijayawada: The YSR Congress will conduct a one-day state-level extended meeting in Vijayawada on June 14.

After bifurcation and Amaravati capital city announcement, the YSRC is planning to conduct the meeting in Vijayawada in a big way for the first time. The event is expected to heat up the political atmosphere in the district, as the YSRC may shift its political base to the city after the meeting.

YSRC leaders reviewed the arrangements for the meeting on Sunday. According to sources, nearly 1,900 representatives would attend the meeting along with party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, MLAs, MPs and senior leaders.

The one-day meeting will exclusively focus on Amaravati capital location developments, land allotments, Kapu-BC reservation issue, ongoing political developments and strengthening the party. The party decided to conduct the meet after the recent jolts of some of the party MLAs joining the TD.

The YSRC top leadership has plans to indicate to the ruling TD that they are not demoralised due to the MLAs' exit. The party hopes the meeting will boost confidence among the cadre. However, fact remains that the YSRC has neglected to build the party structure at the grassroots level. There is no coordination between the leaders of the party. This issue would be raised in the meeting, said a YSRC mandal unit president.

He said coordination was needed to rebuild the party’s base. Political analyst A. Brahmaiah said that how the Kapu-BC issue is handled is important not only for the government but also for the main Opposition.
