Major disaster averted at petrol pump in Chennai

According to sources the petrol pump complex has an ATM, a snack shop and a departmental store.

Chennai: A major disaster was averted at a petrol pump on GST Road in Meenambakkam on Sunday after a departmental store inside the premises caught fire. Four teams of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and battled the flames to douse the fire.

According to sources the petrol pump complex has an ATM, a snack shop and a departmental store.

Some people saw smoke coming out of the departmental store on Sunday morning.  The Staff of the petrol station alerted the Fire and Rescue officials.

Fire fighters from Tambaram, Guindy and Teynampet rushed to the spot.

They managed to snuff out the fire after a while and managed to prevent it from endangering the petrol dispensing units. As the news of the fire spread, a large number of people gathered at the place.
