Singapore tourism eyes more Indian visitors

Hyderabad: The tourism sector in Singapore is gradually limping back to near-normalcy after Covid-19 dampened its operations for two turbulent years. With restrictions on international air travel having been lifted, Singapore tourism is looking at better days, opined directors of the country’s tourism board here on Wednesday. They said that prior to the lockdown the country had over 14 lakh visitors from India annually, of which a sizable number were from Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, travel agents from the city are hoping that there would be a tremendous increase of visitors in May, June and July. Tourism is expected to pick up following Monday’s commencement of sea cruise.

Renjie Wond, area director of the Singapore tourism board, said “the third-highest tourists coming to our country are from India of which most are from south India. Singapore is totally revamped and bears a new look now.”
