Telengana: Special prayers on eve of Shivaratri

Temples across the state have geared up for special prayers dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Hyderabad: Maha Shivaratri will be celebrated across TS on Tuesday. The state government has declared it a public holiday. Temples across the state have geared up for special prayers dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Telangana Vidhwatsabha, set up to give clarity over festival dates in advance, had earlier announced Maha Shivaratri was on February 13. There was talk in some quarters that it would be on February 14, but majority of the archaks, panchangkarthas and purohits  said it was  on February 13.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao conveyed his greetings to the people on this auspicious occasion. He directed officials to make proper arrangements at all the Siva temples in the state, as there would be heavy rush of devotees. He also prayed for peace and happiness for the people of TS. 

Endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy will take part in special prayers to be held at the Raja Rajeshwari Devasthanam in Vemulawada.
