 Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed that the Medak district panchayat officer and the secretary of the Shivampet gran panchayat of Pulkal mandal, to be present before the court on December 28, in relation to the unauthorised construction of a brewery prior to 2008.

The order was issued by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Jukanti Anil Kumar that was dealing with a PIL, complaining that no action taken by the panchayat raj department in stopping the construction by Skol Breweries on Sy No.s 201, 203, 220, 221, 222, 226, 227 and 228 in Shivampet.

The gram panchayat had issued a notice dated November 1, 2008, to the company directing them not to proceed further with the construction work. But no action was taken against the unauthorised construction. The PIL has been pending since 2010.
