VISAKHAPATNAM: Reiterating that the sole agenda of the Andhra Pradesh government is welfare of state, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy once again appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider various pending issues of the state, including the Special Category Status (SCS).

“These will give AP a soothing relief from wounds of bifurcation inflicted on united Andhra Pradesh eight years ago,” the Chief Minister underlined.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds here on Saturday, Jagan Mohan Reddy maintained that the state has been prudently utilising every rupee of its financial resources to infuse and boost self-confidence within every household about its sustainability and take forward the state government’s welfare agenda.

The Chief Minister said: “We have been doing all we can as a state government. My humble request to you (Prime Minister) is to extend us your cooperation with benevolence and generosity. This would help us take forward our welfare and developmental activities at the desired pace.”

“As we are yet to recover from the deep wound that struck our state eight years ago, every help and each initiative you take will be enormously helpful in restructuring and reshaping our state and leapfrog to the national stream. Every additional financial aid given will strengthen the rebuilding efforts of our Government and act as a balm for soothing the eight-year old wound,” the Chief Minister elaborated.

He thanked the Prime Minister profusely on behalf of the people for laying foundation stones and inaugurating projects worth `10,742 crore in Andhra Pradesh. He underlined that the relationship with the Centre, especially Modi, is above all politics and political parties.

Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that the state government is making proper use of every rupee of its revenues as well as funds allotted by the Centre with full transparency for the welfare of the people. It is ushering in revolutionary changes in fields of education, agriculture, women’s welfare, medical and health, social justice, development and decentralisation in the last 3.4 years.

The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to consider his appeals on unsolved issues of State Reorganisation, Polavaram Project, Special Category Status, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and Railway Zone.
