Bhopal: In an ugly display of sycophancy, a sexagenarian minister on Monday bowed before Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who at 47 is 15 years younger than him, and then put his forehead on the latter’s feet in full public view to demonstrate his loyalty.

State food and civil supply minister, Pradyumna Singh Tomar, 61, dropped to his knees and then put his forehead on Scindia’s feet in ‘reverence’ while shouting the slogan, “Maharaj ki jai” to greet him at the Gwalior railway station in MP.

Scindia, scion of the erstwhile Gwalior royal family, reached Gwalior by train from Delhi on Monday morning and was received by Congress leaders and workers.

He was garlanded by some Congress leaders as he was wading through a crowd of his followers.  Scindia is usually addressed by his followers as ‘Maharaj’ or ‘Srimant’.

Tomar suddenly came in front of him and bowed down before him and put his forehead on Scindia’s feet before the latter could react.
