Tirupati: To provide hassle-free climbing experience to devotees from Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple to Mokalla Mettu on the walkers’ path of the First Ghat Road of Tirumala, the top brass of TTD is rolling out an action plan to widen the road here.

TTD Tirumala joint executive officer K.S. Srinivasa Raju announced on Sunday that road widening was being taken up on the 1.2 km-long from the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple to Mokalla Mettu.

“Consultations were held with L&T and we are also considering the feasibility of building a two-lane road from GNC to Mokalla Mettu”, he added. The project was being taken up on the instruction of Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, he said.

These measures were considered in view of bad road conditions after a rainfall of 30 cm in 2015 that hit the ghat roads. TTD engineers and construction experts were consulted for making permanent arrangements, he said.

Speaking about the streamlining of existing darshan systems, Mr Srinivasa Raju appealed to the devotees to be patient as the TTD was gearing up systems to ensure the Lord’s darshan for all in Sarva Darshan, with special darshan of Rs 300 in three hours.
