Bengaluru: Even though the Dasara deadline to fill potholes in the city is fast approaching, many roads in the city continue to be pockmarked with them.

Since September, High Court has been exerting pressure on BBMP officials to fill the potholes dotting the city roads.

The court will be hearing the petition on potholes on October 23. But Bengalureans are not sure whether this Dasara they will have a bump-free ride.

Stretches such as Goodshed Road, Royan Road, Wilson Garden, Bannerghatta Road, Banaswadi, Banashankari, Rajajinagar, Adugodi, Kormangala, Kalasipalya, K.R. Market, Sultan Road, Binny Mill Road and others are continue to be pothole ridden.

Sharath Kumar, a resident of Chamrajpet said, "The stretch from Shanthala Silks at Majestic till Royan Circle is in its worst condition. This narrow road with numerous potholes is often leading to traffic jams."

Good Shed Road, which runs parallel to this road is in a worse shape, Sharath said. He pointed out that this road ensures connectivity to busy Majestic bus stand and Railway station. Vehicles speed up on this road. While cabs manage to pass over the potholes, two wheelers riders have a tough time as there are craters and many get injured."

As for Bannerghatta Road, Sowmya Ananda, a techie, said, “We do not know whether because of ongoing metro works or due to the poor quality of the road works executed by BBMP, we find potholes everywhere.” Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun and BBMP Commissioner Manjunath were not available for comments.
