Jagtial bus accident: Pregnant woman en route for medical treatment dies

Another pregnant woman was injured in the accident, but was rescued in time and is undergoing treatment at the area hospital in Jagtial.

JAGTIAL: A pregnant woman who was travelling to Jagtial to get medical treatment died in the Kondagattu bus road accident. Eligedu Neeraja, 25, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Chalamada Anand Rao Medical College in Karimnagar on Tuesday evening. Neeraja was accompanied by family members whose whereabouts are not known.  The distraught family said they had been looking forward to the new arrival and had planned a grand cradle ceremony.

Another pregnant woman was injured in the accident, but was alive and undergoing treatment at the area hospital in Jagtial. There were terrible scenes at the place where the bus went over and bodies were scattered over the ghat section. The injured were crying out for help; many had fractures of legs and arms and head injuries and some had fainted from shock.

The injured were shifted to the area hospital in Jagtial and private and government hospitals in  Karimnagar. Jagtial Collector Sharath and SP Sindhu Sharma rushed to the scene of the accident and personally participated in the relief operations, shifting people to hospitals.  The collector ordered officials to complete the rescue operations as soon as possible.
