Actors, dancers to descend on Mysuru for fest

Mysuru: A sarod  recital by Pandit Rajiv Taranath,  Hindustani music by  Shubha Mudgal , Carnatic classical music by Vidwan T M Krishna, and a dance recital by actor/dancer, Shobhana are only some of the events that people can look forward to this Mysuru Dasara.

Performed against the backdrop of an  illuminated Mysuru Palace, the music and dance recitals will entertain people every evening from September 21 to 28.  

Three classical troupes, one performing  Bharathanatyam from Tamil Nadu, another, Mohiniyattam from Kerala and the third, Kuchipudi, from Andhra Pradesh, will participate in the event  as will six folk art troupes, including those performing the Dangi  from Gujarat, Natwari, from Uttar Pradesh, and Cheraw, from Mizoram.  Some  troupes from the South Zone Cultural Centre will also participate in the Dasara procession. The organisers, who are paying the artistes between Rs 30,000 and Rs 7 lakh to perform at the Dasara cultural show, have managed to raise 70 per cent of the cost through sponsorships, according to Mysuru Deputy Commissioner,  D Randeep.

The Yuva Dasara, being held from September 22 to 29,  will see several noted Bollywood and Sandalwood playback singers like Phalak Muchchal, Nakash Azeez, Arjun Janya and Neethi Mohan entertain audiences. Actors Shivarajkumar, Darshan and Mayoori are expected to participate as well.

Several IAS and IPS officers will conduct workshops on the UPSC civil service and other competitive exams on the first day of the Yuva Dasara and actor R Madhavan will conduct a  personality development programme  on the second day. Over 50 publishers are expected to hold an exhibition of  books related to the civil service  exam as part of the event.
