Kodagu receives double rain, water flows to Tamil Nadu
The water level at Kabini on Wednesday was 2,283 feet as against its capacity of 2,284 feet.
Bengaluru: Following heavy rains n Wyanad in Kerala, the Kabini reservoir which has received the highest inflow this year, has released the highest quantum of water into the river leading to Tamil Nadu.
With unrelenting rains in the Cauvery catchment area, other reservoirs in the basin too received huge inflow on Wednesday. Kodagu has recorded more than double the rainfall from January this year, compared to the same period in the previous year.
On Wednesday, Kabini reservoir in HD Kote taluk, which received as much as 50,000 cusecs, released 49,000 cusecs into the river leading to Tamil Nadu and 1,000 cusecs into canals for irrigation. The water level at Kabini on Wednesday was 2,283 feet as against its capacity of 2,284 feet.
Kodagu recorded an average of 87.30 mm rain in 24 hours between 8.30 am on Tuesday and 8.30 am Wednesday. With heavy rains in Kodagu, KRS dam received 35,698 cusecs and released 3,612 cusecs into the river. The water level at KRS on Wednesday touched 115.20 feet as against its capacity-124.80 feet.
